Square body Chevy

Picked up a project truck sight unseen, 6-1/2 hrs away from home
With my 2 boys and a rental trailer.
Feb in Northern Ontario, driving in 20 below C to buy a project.
Rusted original truck including suspension parts, and parts missing from engine.
Once spring time hit, my boys and me wrenched everything we could find to put it together, several trips to the parts store a few online orders and we had it running. Now it can be tested. We didn’t have 3rd gear and we had seized leaf spring hangers so it was fun to drive. We removed the box first by using wd-40 on the bolts, this helped me from cutting them out. After box removed we replaced leaf springs and hangers using wd-40 lubricant. Replaced everything new and put a lowered axle kit for fun. The front fenders were a breeze to install after spraying the bolts ahead of time with lubricants. On and off hood to align everything I was having trouble with mounting but because the original hardware was clean and lubricated it was easy to install,
Fast forward truck runs amazing, repainted entire truck, new wheels
Kept original interior and technology for simplicity and Aesthetics

Step 1: Hood cable

Hood latch stuck closed and when pulling release handle nothing released.

Pry gently from bottom of hood it released hood latch not responsive

Sprayed wd-40 lubricant inside cable with straw,

Let sit 2 minutes

See liquid dirt and rust coming out
Wiped off with clean rag

Re spray up into the cable,
Work release handle from inside the car back and forth,

Wipe clean again and spray a small amount back on cable to keep it free

Test latch and close hood to test again

Thanks WD-40 you’re a life saver
