RUST TO RIPPIN'

I found this project in a local for sale ad. A small grainy picture of a distant truck in a barn read "truck for sale, $600". I took a chance and gave them a call. To my surprise it was a 1967 ford f100 long bed. It had been used as a "boat truck" on a tobacco farm and had a steel flat bed on it. After removing the bed, we hauled it home and the work began. I began by shortening the frame. I removed 20 inches from the rear and welded it back together. I removed all the front suspension and prepped it for a Crown Vic swap. Let me tell you, 55 year of rust made WD40 an absolute necessity. Every nut and bolt fought me. Any time one would really put up a fight, I would spray it down with WD40, walk away, collect my sanity and let the WD40 work its magic for a while. Sure enough, they would break free. I replaced almost every component on the cab and removed it for paint. I installed a 1995 dohc 4.6L motor and transmission as well as a 2011 Crown Victoria front and rear suspension. A fuel cell was added in the rear to supply fuel to the new motor set up. After finding a short box and repairing it, I bolted it to the frame and began painting the whole truck. From the beginning I wanted a rough and rough looking street truck with a turn key reliable fuel injected motor. I feel the truck ended up looking just like I dreamed. Im certain that without the help of Wd40, I'd still be pulling my hair out. Instead, I'm enjoying sunny summer days rippin' this truck all over the country side!
