Preserving a piece of family Folk Art

Your Honors, esteemed judges, I'm thrilled to present a repair that not only showcases the versatility of WD-40 but also preserves a family treasure. I'm proud to repair a corroded birdhouse, crafted by my uncle, a talented folk artist.
This birdhouse, made from cedar wood, metal screen, and galvanized roofing, is more than just a shelter for birds – it's a colorful beacon that stands out in our yard, even in the worst snowstorms. Its whimsical design and bright hues bring joy to our family and friends, and I've always been eager to keep it in pristine condition.
Over time, however, the elements took their toll. The once-sturdy roof was stuck, held in place by corroded hinges and rusted screws. The metal screen, which provides ventilation and protection for the birds, was clogged with debris and grime. The wooden structure, weathered to a soft, wood-like driftwood coloring, had developed cracks and splits that threatened to compromise its integrity.

Using WD-40's spray, I loosened the stuck hinges and screws, carefully freeing the roof from its corroded grasp. The WD-40's spray hopefully keeps it protected.
The metal screen, once clogged, now breathes freely, thanks to WD-40's ability to displace moisture and grime. The cedar wood, treated with a gentle touch of WD-40, is now protected from further weathering, preserving its natural oils and beauty. Always a fan and know what this product stands for and its history of consistency of quality and of new and innovative products.
