Bore-ing Balcony Blowout

I have a unit in an older building, and the balcony had begun to flood due to the structure having settled on a slight downhill slope over the years. The Strata sent in contractors to drill an additional drainage hole on the downhill end, but they made a mess of it. Unnecessarily massive, didn't match the existing drainage, a badly caulked copper plate slapped on to cover the blowout, and they attempted to raise the concrete level with an unsightly patch. Looked like hell, but as far as the Strata Manager was concerned, job done. So! We decided to clean it up a bit. Tackled the old concrete floor with a major cleanup, using WD-40 to break down muck and oil stains before a full wipe-down with isopropyl alcohol. Then we poured a membrane coat, which also served to cover up most of the ugly copper plate and sloppy caulking. Over the next month, we poured two more coats, and then used a brick-colored paint to cover the remaining bit of the copper. Not an exact match for the brickwork, but it blends in better, and will keep the copper from oxidizing into green. In the end, the drill-hole chaos led to the neglected balcony getting a fabulous makeover. Looks much more appealing, despite the (still baffling) size of the hole.
